Official FoFiX Discussion
With the addition of Stump as a guest to the Podcast, we should get to discussing FoFiX on here. How many of you still use it? In the last podcast, we mentioned how we hated the new 3.0x version, but now, so many bugs have been fixed. The 3.120 beta is by far the best, and I want to hear your guy's thoughts.

After 2.905, it just started eating at my PC so much, as the requirements just got too METAL.

Then you would love the 3.120 beta. It doesn't hog as many resources, I've noticed. And CHARACTER SUPPORT!

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
Would 3.120 run on a 1.9GHz P4 with 256MB RAM, and a 64MB GeForce2 MX400 on XP?

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
That 256MB of RAM will be the most likely part of that to kill you, especially if you use Psyco and/or Python 2.4.
As for the video card, I'd say it would probably depend most on how good the drivers you have are.
When in doubt about performance, be sure you are using pyOpenGL 2 rather than 3. (At the moment, this requires you to also be using Python 2.4.)

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
I've only had the one issue with fofix. jstump is it possible to play 3 guitars in one game

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
It's possible to have up to four total players; there aren't any restrictions on mixing and matching what instruments they are playing, except that there can (I think) only be one vocal player at the present moment.
We may not have added that until after 3.120b1, though.

you must set max players to something > 2 in the options/control menu.
Edit: i don't know if it was included in the last beta

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
You could have multiple setups, but I only think that 2 players are supported in the beta right now.

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
The new version even got ME back into FoFiX . I must say I was really impressed with the latest updates, and like KTown said, character support is pretty cool. Also if you get a chance, be sure to snag the new GH:M theme over at FOF-FF (not the one from K.I.D., but that other guy). He's almost got it spot on to the real game.

Is there a download link for the latest one? I got mine from the website and it doesn't have character support. D:

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
Well I was working on a theme. Finished it, ran and switched. Now the game won't work. I'm pissed. This why I quit FoF because I can't get a custom theme to work!

Until evilynux puts the Windows download links onto the Google Code page, here they are: http://www.fretsonfire.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&p=416614#p416614

I don't have shaders, but I can run it.
Why would FoFix have shaders?

Re: Official FoFiX Discussion
Just because shaders are supported doesn't mean you're required to use them. (And if you are, it's a bug.)
Some visual effects can be done with the aid of shaders, so we included some that you can optionally use.
