Bands I recently discovered!
And your opinions on them, and any recommendations, songs, other bands, whatnot.
Nightwish
I like both singers. It's like two different groups. I especially liked Sleeping Sun. That song is absolutely beautiful. As well as some songs from their new CD.
Avantasia
Reach Out To The Light. I thought it had a really cool progressive both in the verses and the chorus. And their guitarist is holy crap fast.
Serenity
I heard a couple songs from these guys that I really liked.

Nightwish were and still are one of my favorite bands but I prefer Tarja (original singer) as the singer. You should check out some of her solo stuff, she has an amazing voice.
Heres some more bands you may like if you haven't already heard of them:
Stream of passion
Sirenia
Within Temptation
scooter1974- Metalhead

High on Fire, fast strumming guitar solos and a satanic voice mean they are a good band (in my opinion. You should listen to them sometime

This isn't about bands YOU discovered, dumbshit. It's about bands in the OP or bands that have any form of relevance to the OP. Stop spamming goddamn High on Fire, it makes me ashamed to like them when I know that fucktards like you like them.

You edited the post AFTER I posted, and explain what the hell Fury Whip by High on Fire and No Return by Avantasia have in common.

Re: Bands I recently discovered!
Hmm, I heard Edguy was good, while I heard RR was "a useless band".

Re: Bands I recently discovered!
The reason I reccomended them is because they're all pretty much the same band... (The same singer, and sometimes the same guitarists.)aander91 wrote:Hmm, I heard Edguy was good, while I heard RR was "a useless band".
But if you're getting into power metal, I can make you one big-ass download with a bunch of REALLY good albums.

I just got the special edition In This Moment album "The Dream", which lyrically is much less dark than Nightwish but has the metal/girl lead sound to it, you should give them a shot. Her voice is kind of odd and you'll either be ok with it or hate it

Re: Bands I recently discovered!
Well, I'm really looking for something more like Fairyland now (God I hate that name). Not really looking for something hard, just melodically driving. I'm looking for beautiful metal, and I'm finding that in Symphonic Power Metal and female Fronted. So anything along those lines.Dr Phil wrote:The reason I reccomended them is because they're all pretty much the same band... Re: Bands I recently discovered!
Not to bash, but once your name becomes Fairyland, your music is beautiful, and melodically driving, no matter how heavy you are, you are no longer metal.

+1 this and try out some "I Set My Friends On Fire" they are supposed to be some kind of electronica hardcore something but listen to "Reese's Pieces, I Don't Know Who John Cleese Is" or "Things That Rhyme With Orange."

Metal cannot be generated from a band named Fairyland.
